MCNA has added the American Dental Association Guide to Claims Submission: Scaling and Root Planing to the provider resources listed under the News and Resources section of our website. This helpful tool provides guidance to your team and detailed instructions for accurate claim documentation, including:

• How to record attachment loss

• Sample charts

• Common reasons for claim denials

• Guiding values for treating dentists

• Examples of good and poor radiographs

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is monitoring how the federal government shutdown may impact benefits. At this time there are no changes anticipated to Medicaid and CHIP covered dental services, including those services performed in-office via teledentistry during the federal government shutdown. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has postponed the planned update to the Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) that would enable provider credentialing. This functionality will be added later in 2025.

MCNA has added the American Dental Association (ADA) Guide to Extractions – Tooth and Remnants to our provider resources. This ADA resource is a helpful tool to provide guidance to your team when submitting claims for services to MCNA. The guide can be found in the News and Resources section of our website.
