Members affected by the recent Texas flooding can get extra time to request an appeal and to ask to continue their benefits during an appeal. This applies to appeals filed from July 2 through September 29, 2025. Changes to the time frames are listed below:

• Appeal: Members can get up to 90 days to ask for an appeal. The regular time frame is 60 days. 

• Continuation of Benefits: Members have 30 days to ask to continue their benefits during an appeal. The regular time frame is 10 days.

These time frames begin once a member receives a denial letter. An appeal and continuation of benefits request must state that the need for the extra time is a result of the 2025 Texas flooding. As an MCNA member you are entitled to certain rights and services when being treated by MCNA network providers. It’s your duty to take part in the healthcare treatment suggested by your provider. Texas Medicaid renewals are coming back. Make sure the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) can reach you. HHSC may need to send you a notice that your renewal is due or ask you for information.

Be sure to update your contact information through a Your Texas Benefits online account. It’s easy! Create a Your Texas Benefits account or download the Your Texas Benefits mobile app to view your account information, update your contact information and respond to requests from HHSC.
